Slowshift

EndUp

Slowshift only plays acoustic instruments. It seemed wrong to fake anything back, so the whole thing was shot through a microscope on a desk in our office. No CGI, no set, no location. Everything that moves in frame moves because it's alive. A world that was there all along, too small to be noticed, playing along.

Behind the scenes

Mostly this was an experiment that got out of hand. The living things are real: copepods and rotifers from SINTEF Ocean's SeaLab, amphipods and shrimp we scooped out of the Trondheim fjord ourselves, and flowers, ants, a wasp. Under the glass we mixed them with dish soap, oil, beer, wine, whatever was on the desk, and ran the light through darkfield condensers we'd 3D-printed and then deliberately misused, bending it into prisms and rainbows. A music video that started as two people playing with a microscope.
